Get ahead of the curve before it catches up to you: “Private companies, irrespective of size, should have their cyber programs ready before additional regulations are issued. With the SEC issuing its final disclosure requirements for publicly held companies, it is not a question of if but when privately held companies will be held to the same standard. In fact, all companies that work with the Department of Defense are required to demonstrate a matured level of information and asset protection. In anticipation, every company, at a minimum, should have a cybersecurity program that covers identifying and protecting assets and detecting and responding to incidents. Private company boards can play a significant role in supporting their management teams in establishing and sustaining a cybersecurity program.”
