Who do you serve? “Board directors should not forget the customer of the company that they serve. It is important to remember the ‘who’ that underlies a business. Who does your product, technology or service benefit? What do they need? How is this evolving? Directors can more effectively advise a company when keeping this consumer mindset. Along this same vein, a good board member is putting themselves in the shoes of the customer as well as reading and assessing the broader landscape in order to share perspective and ensure company leadership is seeing ahead to seize opportunities in ever-changing markets.”
