Creating a successful relationship between management and the board: “High-growth companies require the right leadership, mindset and culture. Strategic planning is important, but daily execution is critical. Management should be empowered to act and react quickly as the business grows and evolves. Board members should be ready to roll up their sleeves and understand the nuances of these businesses and the key levers management can pull to continuously improve performance. Expense control in one part of the business can make room for investment in growth vehicles such as marketing, M&A or sales capacity. Helping focus on the initiatives that drive sustainable value creation is paramount for a successful relationship between management and the board.”
