Believe in your gut, leverage your guideposts: “Governance takes on many forms and ‘good governance’ is ever evolving. Definitions of right and wrong rapidly change with today’s mores and legislative actions, posing an increasingly challenging environment for directors to navigate. Defining and leveraging one’s own guideposts will help with this challenge. Do you fundamentally believe in a course of action or does this go against your gut? Are you feeling pressure from other directors and have you explored why? To ensure that you practice good governance, leverage your ‘internal navigation tools’ to bring clarity to situations and to help yourself understand opposing points of view.”
