As part of the recent Private Company Governance Summit 2023 in Washington, D.C., attendees had an opportunity to meet with congressional representatives or their staff to discuss matters of interest to family business owners. The Capitol visits were led by Pat Soldano, president of Family Enterprise USA, an organization that advocates for family business owners. The day also included a meeting with Rep. Mike Flood (R-Neb.) and a lunch at the historic Capitol Hill Club. One of the goals of the visits was to grow the Family Business Caucus, which currently consists of four members: representatives Jodey Arrington (R-Texas), Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), Brad Schneider (D-Ill.) and Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.). The core purpose of the Congressional Family Business Caucus is to educate members of Congress on the substantial contributions that large and small family businesses make to the America economy, the nation and local communities.
