Intentional connection drives value. “Governance isn’t just oversight — it’s orchestration. Board excellence thrives on intentional connection, particularly with private companies. Directors possess much functional expertise and can provide incredible value in addition to the usual board and committee work. Sharing networks and referrals, mentoring leadership teams and offering to be a thought partner can accelerate trust for directors and quickly unlock strategic growth for the companies they serve. Board ‘rituals’ — flying in early, group dinners, sitting in on committee meetings — reveal a board’s culture and operating principles. The best private company directors invest time in understanding these rhythms to amplify impact.”
