Outdated models pose a risk all their own: “Maintaining a balance of looking forward while evaluating past performance is foundational. Refreshment of meeting agendas, policies and the board structure itself enhances effective governance and oversight. It’s easy for these to become routine, but with the emergence of AI, cybersecurity risks and other rapid developments, they can quickly become outdated. Directors have experience in other industries and may be exposed to new trends before management. These insights bring value to productive boardroom discussions. Building strong, trusting relationships with the CEO and executive leaders is invaluable in fostering open communication and collaboration.”
