Changing the culture conversation in the boardroom: “The easiest way to get the board to talk about culture is to start a conversation about risk and the long-term success of the company in relation to strategy. Risk is at the intersection of culture and one of the core responsibilities of the board. When boards talk about the impact of culture on strategy rather than simply the ‘topic of culture,’ then culture becomes a source of competitive advantage. Given increasing risks in the global economy and today’s geopolitical instability, culture can also become a risk if it is ignored and not proactively developed. Culture can be an organization’s biggest asset or its greatest liability.”
